You’re busy. You have your hands full every day with important business or family responsibilities. I’m not suggesting you should neglect these, but being busy can come at a horrendous cost, because there’s a tendency to put your finances on autopilot.
Here’s an example. It’s time to refix your mortgage and the bank suggests you click on a website button to ‘Grab this Low Rate Now’ or something similar. You’re busy, so you do it. Bad idea.
The bank doesn’t tell you that increasing your mortgage payments by just $10 a week could save you tens of thousands of dollars. It just gives you a button to click. It’s like playing Candy Crush, and as with any addictive online game, it’s not going to help you get ahead in life.
There’s a simple alternative, and I promise it won’t take too much time out of your busy schedule. Send me a phone or email and we’ll set up a time to chat. We can do it over the phone or by video call. There’s no charge.
No mortgage is too big or small to be worth reviewing. I can think of at least two clients on modest salaries who are bringing up families in Auckland, and who will be mortgage-free by 50. The golden rule is to keep payments at an affordable level but high enough to repay debt faster. There are some great tips and tricks to help you achieve this, and I’m happy to share them with you.
